Misdemeanor Offenses

Illinois Misdemeanor Defense Attorney

If you or a loved one has been arrested and charged with a misdemeanor offense, contact The Law Offices of Jonathan Minkus at (847) 966-0300. With more than 33 years of criminal defense experience, Senior Partner Jonathan Minkus offers aggressive and representation for all types of misdemeanor charges.

Although a misdemeanor is less serious than a felony offense, the consequences of a misdemeanor conviction can still be devastating for the accused and his or her family. An Illinois misdemeanor is a criminal offense that is punishable by up to 364 days in an Illinois county jail and may include fines up to $2500. A misdemeanor conviction also involves court costs and appears on your permanent record. Millions of Americans lose job opportunities each year because of prior misdemeanor convictions.

At the Law Offices of Jonathan Minkus, our goal is to get your misdemeanor charge dismissed or reduced. If charges are not dropped, we work tirelessly to offer the best possible defense and, if needed, to argue for the lightest possible punishment, including minimal fines, community service or probation.

In Illinois, there are three types of misdemeanor classifications:
